XtraPure Granular Oak


XtraPure is a winemakers best ally to protect must and wine from destructive oxidation.  The oak is sourced from a specific French forest region selected for its very high anti-oxidant capacity.  The oak then undergoes a gentle heat treatment and is akin to untoasted oak.  XtraPure is the result of extensive study, scientific analysis and winemaking trials.  Our unique recipe of seasoning and heat treatment maximizes the effectiveness of XtraPure.

Dosage: 1.2 to 3 grams per liter
10 to 25 lb per 1,000 gallon

Recommended Contact Time:
  • White wines in fermentation: 10 to 25 lbs per 1000 gallons (1.2 to 3 g per liter).  About 2 weeks treatment.
  • Red wines in fermentation and maceration: 20 to 30 lbs per 1000 gallons (2.4 to 3.6 g per liter).  About 2 weeks treatment.
  • Red wines after malolactic: 10 to 20 lbs per 1000 gallons (1.2 to 2.4g per liter).  About 1 to 2 months for aging.
  • We recommend tasting regularly.
Size: Range of chip pieces (approx.): Thickness: 1/8” (0.3 cm), Max. size: 3/4” x 1/2” (1.9 x 1.2 cm), Min. size: 3/8” x 1/4” (0.9 x 0.6 cm).
Seasoning: Proprietary recipe.
Useful Life: 1 time use during fermentation, aging or finishing.
Traceability: Traceability is guaranteed for each product which is labeled with a unique lot number.
Quality Control: HACCP Management XTRACHENE facilities apply HACCP processes.  Testing is done for Haloanisole and Halophenol compounds and Lindane.
